Warlock Leveling Guide

warlockIf your character is a warlock and you need to level up fast then you have come to right place!

Below is a quick rundown of your leveling path and a leveling warlock build. However with a professional in-game level guide you can level up much more quickly by following the waypoints and ensuring you complete each task quickly and fully. Using an in-game guide is perfectly legal within the game although your fast rise to the top may surprise your friends and guild members!

If you go for an in-game guide make sure it is one that also offers the best warlock leveling spec available like the guide listed above (that guide actually has primary and secondary specs for both leveling and PvP which can assign your talents instantly to the best build spec at the click of a button).

Levels 1 to 9

When you begin all you have is Demon skin and Shadow Bolt. Shadow Bolt is your primary weapon and will remain so for quite a few levels. Your Demon Skin will help armour you and adds an advantage to health spells and spell effects so make sure your Demon Skin is always up!

In the early levels it is important to do all the quests that you can. Not only does this help you to level up quickly but you will also get very useful weapons, gear and money. With the money you get you can buy useful spells for yourself and your pets.

For the first 5 levels you will stay in your home town refining your skills and getting spells from your trainer. It is important that you get all the spells that your trainer can give you. Don't be impatient and jump ahead you will need them later.

After level 5 you make your way to the second town where you continue your training and gather more spells from your trainer.

Once you have 85 copper get your Imp!

When you get your Immolate and Corruption spells set the following spell cast rotation. Now this rotation is not set in stone but it is a good indication of how you should proceed.

Cast Rotation:

Immolate.
Send in Imp while casting.
Corruption.
Spam Shadow Bolt or Wand until death.

At level 8
your cast rotation should be the same as above but put Curse of Agony between Immolate and Corruption. You may also want to get a starter wand such as the Lesser Magic Wand.

Levels 10 to 23

At levels 10 to 23 things start to get very interesting. It should be noted that when you advance a level you get warlock talents to spend towards your warlock talent builds. Use them wisely!

Your three talent trees are Affliction, Demonology, and Destruction. Use your first 5 talent points for Improved Corruption. After that go for Improved Life Tap and Soul Siphon.

At level 10, you get to summon a second of your warlock pets the Voidwalker and learn to cast the spell "Drain Soul" (after some quest work of course). Drain Soul is used to create "Soul Shards" which are required to summon demons.

Level 14 will bring you Drain Life which seems expensive as it uses a lot of mana but it also heals you for the same amount of damage done so its not all that bad especially when you consider that warlocks have the ability to convert HP into mana through Life Tap!

At level 18 you get the ability to resurrect yourself every 30 minutes - neat! This is because you acquire the ability to create Soul Stones and you should always have one active!

At level 20 things really start to heat up!!!! You get Demon Warlock Armor which replaces your Demon Skin, you get a free mount (because you're a warlock) and you get to replace your Voidwalker with a new warlock pet - a Succubus. Now you are really starting to become a force to be reckoned with!

Make sure you use your talents for 3/3 Fel Concentration so you can Drain-tank properly.

Before moving on the higher levels try to get the Glyph of Corruption so you have instant Shadow Bolt. This Glyph becomes even more important at higher levels so I strongly suggest you try your best to get it!!!

If you do manage to get your hands on this Glyph be sure to put Corruption before Curse of Agony!

Now your cast rotaion should look something like this:

Send Voidwalker in.
Curse of Agony.
Corruption.
Immolate.
Life Tap.
Drain Life (If you have the Glyph of Corruption then use Shadow Bolt when it Procs).
Drain Soul

If you are Drain Tanking already then your cast rotation should be:

Immolate.
Send Succubus in.
Curse of Agony.
Corruption.
Life Tap.
Drain Life (If you have the Glyph of Corruption then use Shadow Bolt when it Procs)
Drain Soul

Levels 24 to 30

At these levels you want to be rid of your VoidWalker and using Drain Tanking.

Make sure you get 3/3 Suppression. This will greatly improve your damage. It will also decrease the mana cost of 90% of the spells you will using so they are three talent points well spent!

You can pick up some warlock gear with Spellpower and invest in Empowered Corruption or Nightfall for extra damage. This damage will be even more pronounced if you managed to get the Glyph of Corruption (are you starting to see how important getting that Glyph is?).

When you reach level 30 use your talent point for Siphon Life.

Your Cast rotation should now be set to this:

Immolate.
Send Whatever Pet You Are Using In.
Corruption.
Curse of Agony.
Life Tap.
Drain Life (Use Shadow Bolt When Glyph of Corruption or Nightfall Procs).
Drain Soul.

Levels 31 to 39

Be sure to pick up warlock gear in the Scarlet Monastery. You will also thoroughly enjoy Whitemane's Chapeau, Inquisitor's Shawl and the Hypnotic Blade.

Between levels 34 and 39 increase your Shadow Mastery for better damage.

You may find that you wish to change from a Succubus to an Imp.

Your Cast rotation should not have changed since the previous levels. Obviously you only need to make one minor change in your cast rotation if you change your pet.

Levels 40 to 49

level 80 warlockUse a talent point to get the Dark Pact spell which is extremely powerful when wielded in the correct way!

You can use your Imp as either a Felhunter or a mana battery - the choice is yours.

The level warlock talent build at this time should be to use 5/5 Contagion and 2/2 Improved Howl of Terror. If you didn't use 2/2 Improved Felhunter then use 2/3 Malediction.

Cast rotation should be:

Imp:
Immolate.
Corruption.
Curse of Agony.
Life Tap.
Drain Life (Use Shadow Bolt When Glyph of Corruption or Nightfall Procs).
Drain Soul.
Dark Pact.

Felhunter:
Immolate.
Send Felhunter in.
Corruption.
Curse of Agony.
Life Tap.
Drain Life (Use Shadow Bolt When Glyph of Corruption or Nightfall Procs).
Drain Soul.
Dark Pact.

Levels 50 to 59

At level 50 you come to a cross-roads. You can either wait for Improved Lifetap or go the route of Demonology and get yourself a deadly and powerful demon - a Felgaurd.

The leveling warlock spec you use will depend on which route you wish to take.

Levels 60 and above

These levels offer some great opportunities to power up your character. It becomes much more difficult at the higher levels and an in-game guide is highly recommended.

Haunt, Shadow Embrace, the Chaos Bolt and Metamorphosis all become available to you and make the game very interesting for you indeed.

With the addition of Fel Armor at level 62 you will be able to take much more damage and PvP will become a breeze.
