Ultimate WOW Level Guide

Is World of Warcraft Addictive?

If you have ever played in the virtual world of warcraft and ventured through the land of Azeroth then you will know only too well just how exciting and captivating the game can be. With its bright textual colours, fantastic game play, enthralling quests and varied creatures and environments it is easy to see why World of Warcraft has such a devoted following and why it is the most successful Massively Multi-Player Online Role Playing Game to ever hit the internet!

When you play World of Warcraft you often find it difficult to stop. The quests and levelling paths are cleverly constructed so that they leave you wanting just a little more at the end. It is easy to see how critics of such games refer to them as being 'addictive'.

If you have ever read a great book and finished a chapter but just had to read the next one, or watched a television episode of your favourite program and really wanted to see the next one right away, then you will have some idea of what I mean.

Due to the addictive nature of World of Warcraft, and in fact the addictive nature of video games in general, players tend to spend long periods of time online in this fantasy world. This is less of a problem for kids than it is for adults due to the internal clock and parental controls that come as part of the game.

If your child is an avid gamer who enjoys MMORPG and wants to play World of Warcraft then you can limit the time he or she spends online within the game through an internal timer.

This is advisable as a typical gamer can spend approximately 24 hours in Azeroth every single week. More hard core gamers will spend much, much longer. In fact it has been reported that some people have spent 24 hours playing the game in just one sitting!

It is never a good idea to become addicted to anything but when it is a computer game all aspects of your life can suffer. Many people, who have become addicted to computer games such as World of Warcraft, lose everything including their jobs, relationships and homes! Don't be one of them.

Although such extreme cases are very few in number there have been reports of a few connected to World of Warcraft. I should add that anyone who gets so caught up in an activity that they find it extremely difficult to stop it probably has an addictive personality and would most likely find another outlet for their addictive behaviour.

Having said that, World of Warcraft is unlike any other game on the market in that it can teach very valuable skills that transfer nicely into a person's private and professional life - such a team work, leadership, team building and many more!

If you use World of Warcraft properly and the way it was designed to be used you will have hours of fun and perhaps even learn some life skills in the process.
